Director's note
Welcome to the wonderful world of Spurboard! Written by Nick Enright, this play struck my classmates and I, like a lightning bolt thrown by Zeus (Mr Williams) himself. It's rich textual themes, words, and character journeys make it such a great play that it had to be put on, and this Year 11 drama class, who I have the absolute pleasure working with, are the perfect ones to perform it!
We've worked tirelessly together, and I couldn't wish for a better group of classmates to work with. My band of directorials and I work on the planning and behind the scenes of scenes while the other little munchkins work on their production sections, while also rehearsing.
Rodeo, horses, adolescence, rural towns, exploration,
you're in for a treat.

The Prop and Set design was done by Luca and Alex, with their creativity they created the design of the sets for the play in all of the various different scenes by measuring our drama space, acquiring and building props, and creating a set that effectively frames our performance.
Costume and Makeup

Our beautiful costume designs and makeup were done by Kaylee and Iisa who did an amazing job choosing the fabric for the costumes and designing outstanding costumes. Together they examined and created aesthetics for each character which meshed wonderfully with our director's visions.
Lighting and sound

The lighting and sound team which includes Zach, Cash and Heather, they all did a spectacular job at choosing what lighting to do for each scene and the sound effects to fill in scenes. They read through each scene from the play and figured out each character's colour schemes, and the lighting for each scene to fit the mood for the characters.
Promotion

Jasmine and Viana lead the dramaturg, promotion, and publicity team. They created our website and ran our social media, setting up our ticket booking system. A variety of gorgeous posters were made and put up around our community and school. They thoroughly researched our play, giving us insight into the historical and technical aspects of our production.
Front of House team

Lana Waddingham
Lana and Chloe were in charge of the Front of House while also being helpful elves for the promotion team. Both were in charge of the position and seating of our audience in the theatre, and the refreshments put out during the intermission. They were in charge of designing programs for the play as well as assisting the promotion team in some early planning and writing these very descriptions!

Sometimes we have so much to say, so much to do, and so much to see, that the possibilities seem an impossible kaleidoscope that no matter how we twist, turn and squint, nothing seems certain, yet everything appears dazzling. Nick Enright's Spurboard offers the audience a glimpse of that colourful, unfathomable world of potentials we all face as we grow up. But. wonderfully, it also opens a window for the spectacularly creative and committed team of Drama students to explore this liminal moment of life in an incredible tactile and thoughtful way. Theatre is a conversation. Theatre is a mirror. This cast and crew have so much to contribute to our world,
